Print taught me discipline.
Software taught me systems.

I'm Dane Wesolko. I spent eight years in print and ten in software. I design software for hard problems, and I still take on print, brands, and book covers.

Three kinds of work

01 — Product design

Software for people who can't afford a confusing screen.

Nuclear scheduling at FPL. Campaign optimization at Valassis. A European health data product at IQVIA.

IQVIA Evidence Platform home screen with patient counts, a chart of patients per indication, and a map of European data sources Field Case Manager iPad app for Pfizer / Onco360, showing a list of health care providers with pending and active cases CoraMed buyer dashboard with drug search and an order list showing a quote received

02 — Graphic design

Magazines, identities, and advertising, built for print.

An ASHPE award for cover illustration. Whole issues of Renew. Identity systems for Spartico and Copperline.

Renew magazine Spring 2015 cover: Mike Ness of Social Distortion and his son Julian, under the headline Recovering Together Counselor magazine October 2012 cover illustration, which won an ASHPE award The Omphoy flyer, Day-cation at The Omphoy: a couple on a beach cabana, the restaurant, and jet skis, over cabana rates

Why one designer

The same habits run through all of it.

  • Grid and type

I learned layout in print. It still shapes every screen I design.

  • Research and testing

Interviews, workshops, and usability tests come before the pixels.

  • I build what I design

HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WordPress. I've written front ends, not just handed them off.

  • Systems, not one-offs

A logo that runs through menus and flyers. A component library that runs through a platform.

  • Business sense

I've started businesses and sold one. I taught myself trading, corporate finance, and digital marketing.

  • Leadership

I led an AI/ML lab, and I mentor designers on ADPList.
